Quincy Foundation Donates to Community College in Hannibal
2013 Quincy, IL – The Affordable Community Education citizen’s group is happy to announce that they have received a grant from the Community Foundation of Quincy, IL. The Community Foundation awards grants based on the following areas of interest: arts and culture, community betterment, education, health, and human services. Serving 13 counties in West Central Illinois, Northeast Missouri, and Southeast Iowa, The Community Foundation has awarded over 1,400 grants totaling more than $2 million to area nonprofit organizations.
Hannibal Jaycees Present over $16,000 for New Campus
2013 Hannibal, MO – Affordable Community Education is pleased to receive Hannibal Jaycees generous donation of $663. With this donation, Hannibal Jaycees are assisting Affordable Community Education and Moberly Area Community College (MACC) in building a permanent campus in the Hannibal area. To date the Jaycees have raised over $14,000 for the campus.
“We enjoyed raising the money to support the building project,” saids Mike Riesenbeck of Hannibal Jaycees, “we believe a higher education should be accessible to all.”
US Bank of Hannibal Presents Affordable Community Education $1,500
2012 Hannibal, MO – Affordable Community Education is pleased to receive US Bank’s generous donation of $1,500. With this donation, US Bank of Hannibal is assisting Affordable Community Education and Moberly Area Community College (MACC) in building a permanent campus in the Hannibal area. “I believe this new center will have a very positive effect on the economic state of this community,” says Deetra Ingram of US Bank, “increasing everyone’s opportunity for a higher education.”
Ken & Robin Greger make education priority one in Hannibal
20101 Hannibal, MO – Affordable Community Education is pleased to announce the donation of $25,000 by Ken & Robin Greger of Hannibal, MO. The Greger’s were happy to be a part of helping further education in Hannibal. Ken stated, “ We are excited to participate in what MACC is doing here in Hannibal. It’s satisfying to see the kids we know have a place to learn so close to home. We are proud to be a part of the MACC’s Hannibal campus.” The Greger’s donation will be used to help build a community college for Hannibal and the surrounding region.
Quincy Attorneys Make Donation to Education
Hannibal, MO – Terrell and Vicki Dempsey have chosen to support the citizen group Affordable Community Education by making a generous donation of $15,500. Terrell and Vicki are co-owners of the law firm, Dempsey, Dempsey, and Moellring, also, Terrel is widely known for his book, “Searching for Jim: Slavery in Sam Clemens's World”. “You can not put a price on education. A quest for knowledge is forever rewarding,” says Dempsey.
Hannibal Residents Support Affordable Community Education
Hannibal, MO –Local residents, Gary and Marcia Luck, donated $11,000 to the citizen group Affordable Community Education. “With so many giving, we are getting closer to providing this community an affordable alternative for higher education,” says Gary and Marcia.
Local Attorney Supports Higher Education
Hannibal, MO– Casey Welch, attorney for Wasinger, Parham, Morthland, Terrell & Wasinger, L.C., is showing his support for local higher education by donating $20,000 to the citizen group Affordable Community Education. “I am merely doing what I can to present people with an equal chance to achieve their own success,” says Welch.
Citizen Gives Generous Donation
Hannibal, MO – Arsene Burton of Hannibal has given a generous donation to the citizen group, Affordable Community Education. Burton presented them with a donation of $20,000 that will go towards building a permanent facility in Hannibal. “Every young person deserves a chance to pursue their own dreams. An affordable education is what helps those dreams become a reality,” says Burton.

This donation pushes Affordable Community Education even closer to making their campaign a reality. “We believe that it is critical that our community is able to provide a higher education at a low cost,” says Robert Gilstrap, Owner of Hannibal’s McDonald’s.
Former Business Owners Give Back to Their Community
Hannibal, MO – Gene and Kathy Scholes, former owners of Reliable Pest Control in Hannibal, have given a generous donation to Affordable Community Education. This money will go to help secure a permanent location in Hannibal for Moberly Area Community College. “We are simply doing what we can to give a little something back to the community and give others the chance to pursue a higher education,” says Mr. Scholes
Local Dentist Donates to Higher Education
Hannibal, MO – Dr. David Jackson and his wife Lillian have donated $ 25,550 to Affordable Community Education. Dr. Jackson, a partner in Hannibal Dental Group, says, “Growing up in Hannibal and coming back to practice and raise my family, I feel this community has given much to me. I have been on the Hannibal Board of Education for 17 years and Lillian and I feel education is important. We feel the Hannibal Education Center will give others the opportunity to achieve a higher education so they too can give back to the community.
